We would like to acknowledging that we are on the traditional lands, referred to as Treaty 6 Territory and that Amiskwacîwâskahikan (the City of Edmonton) and all the people here are beneficiaries of this peace and friendship treaty. Treaty 6 encompasses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations such as the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Dene and Nakota Sioux. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who have called this area home since time immemorial.
Moving forwards as counsellors, we commit to recognizing the atrocities performed against these people, and to provide validation, respect, and support for these groups of individuals. Together we call upon our collective communities to build a stronger understanding of all peoples who dwell of this land in the commitment and honour of reconciliation.
At Northward Counselling we offer trauma and Indigenous informed counselling for clients who are Indigenous.
We also offer Indigenous Lifeskills courses for corporations, organizations, and individuals. These courses include information on the cultural practices, history and current experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit of Canada.
